What is a clinical research study?
A clinical research study is a medical study that helps to answer important questions about an investigational medication, such as:
- Does it work?
- What amount, or dose, may work best?
- How safe is it?
- Are there side effects?
All medications must be tested in clinical research studies before they can be approved to prescribe to patients.
Without people taking part in these studies, we would have no new medications.
¿Qué es un estudio de investigación clínica?
Un estudio de investigación clínica es un estudio médico que tiene como fin encontrar respuestas a preguntas importantes sobre un medicamento en investigación, tales como:
- ¿Funciona?
- ¿Qué cantidad, o dosis, podría funcionar mejor?
- ¿Hasta qué punto es seguro?
- ¿Tiene algún efecto secundario?
Todos los medicamentos deben probarse en estudios de investigación clínica para que se pueda autorizar su prescripción a los pacientes.
Sin voluntarios que participasen en estos estudios, no habría medicamentos nuevos.
